Company History

In 1993, Chanin Builders, Inc. was established focusing primarily on the single family custom home market, building homes in residential communities in Boulder, Longmont, Lafayette and Westminster, Colorado. The company expanded its focus in 1996, taking on multifamily projects in Denver. To date, Chanin Builders, Inc. has constructed over 400 residential units including single and multi-family projects.

Chanin Development, Inc. was formed in 1997 to take advantage of the land development side of the homebuilding industry. Since that time, Chanin Development has developed over 600 finished lots. Projects have ranged in scope from a 270 unit mixed density residential community with a market value of $108,000,000, to a 233 unit high density residential mixed use adaptive redevelopment of an urban infill site with a market value of $105,000,600 to a four unit single family detached urban in-fill project with a market value of $3,500,000.

CDI operates out of its office at the corner of Spruce Street and Broadway, in downtown Boulder. CDI has worked extensively with various municipal affordable housing authorities providing over 100 permanently affordable units into those programs. Further, Jim Chanin’s civic activities have included a long standing relationship on the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity who has built dozens of affordable housing units in Boulder County.
